Challenges with English possessive (’s) for Afghan Dari Persian first language speakers

This research article studied the challenges Afghan engineering undergraduate students faced with apostrophe s in their conversations. For this purpose, 10 (7 male and 3 female) from different departments of Computer Science faculty Kabul polytechnic University were selected as informants research. All interviewed, recorded data was analyzed. It finally found out that experienced problems usage well pronunciation s. In terms usage, 80 percent missed nouns possessive case. Moreover, rest 20 problem That is, they pronounced /s/ all cases. has a significant role improving students’ language competence it tempts English teachers to keep track mistakes (especially common mistakes) order prevent them being fossilized result offer better quality teaching English.
